During the RT83 homeless crisis, The Strong Towers team was Called to preach with brothers and sister In-Christ of Daybreak Christian Assembly and Helping Up Missions. After meeting at Helping Up Missions, the teams drove to RT83 and spent the entire morning in one location. It was a location that had several sub-communities of homeless populations. The loners, the ones who pitched tents together, and others who had to distance themselves from the other two. As we walked through the piles of trash, embraced smell that was overbearing at times, we were greeted with open arms by some; some kept their distance and others indifferent to our presence. See, this was a location touched by so many volunteers and we weren't the only team that arrived during this crisis. The area was well known but the conditions that morning were led by the Spirit for sure. Food was handed out across the board - no one was hungry that day. Water, clothes and Evangelical materials were distributed. During this time, the 15 volunteers had time to mingle, talk to some of the homeless, understand their economic situation and mentioned a few words of encouragement. There were two Pastors present in the groups of volunteers. They were needed for many reasons - which the Lord revealed at a later time. At this time, Strong Towers set up a few guitars and started to sing hymns. We gathered the volunteers and left an open invitation to those living in the area to attend our service. A few did attend. The sound of the traffic overhead provided an interesting challenge, but nonetheless, the Spirit was flowing. Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the Earth." The sermon commenced and the team was filled with so much power, the results from this event were earth shattering. It’s so true that when Called for a Purpose, the power will come, flow and overtake you. Nothing will harm you. Why do we do this? As Jesus says in Luke 10:20 "Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” We do this to worship the Lord, glorify Him and give him honor. Strong Towers would like to thank all that made this possible. The ones present worked hard to prepare for this and all encouraged each other in Love.
