The Forgotten are those that are truly forgotten. They can have a myriad of problems. There are many ways to help. We are walking in their shoes, see where they live, talk to them as frequently as we can and we really keep praying to help understand their plight. We are embracing their problem without criticizing their problems. Obviously seeing problems like this takes an emotional toll on the volunteers. It is so easy to get comfortable in our homes, going to our friends and glorify our Lord at Church when others are hurting so bad. How easy it is to forget them but what a waste it would be not to carry the Holy Spirit to these locations and surrender to the Lord as so He can work through his Servants. It’s the least we can do. Here starts the journey that took place today.

The ForgottenHard to find locations...

The ForgottenTypically results in people hiding from a lot of problems. Some of the problems come from within themselves. Our friend Mike lives here. Just on a little bed, with one backpack and a roof under his head. He might not even realize the plight he is in. If I lived in this place, I would be faced with my Shame on a daily basis. Feelings of shame, guilt and then how unworthy "I am" would overtake me in a second. A sense of shame can affect anyone, in any situation of embarrassment, dishonor, disgrace, inadequacy, or humiliation. It can build upon itself into a spiral effect that can be overwhelming and powerful.

The ForgottenThough from one location to another, the journey continues.

The ForgottenAnd we still see remnants of people trying to put their lives back together but just can't.

The ForgottenWhich is evident of the trash thrown in every which direction.

The ForgottenWalking down from one overpass we see...

The ForgottenA friend of Mike's that is taking care of stray cats. However, the animals have found a home for themselves and find company with the homeless.

The ForgottenWe find that this person, Jim, has a job but obviously can't afford housing or has no where to go. He created a little home for himself.

The ForgottenHis home consists of a table, bookshelf and a few books. Jim might be getting over or is afflicted with alcoholism. Alcoholism is a disease and once it takes hold, it can take your life unless the proper steps are consistently taken to protect thy self from the habit of drinking. People drink to kill the pain. To run from their problems. To hide from this world. Jim wasn't in today but it was nice to see Mike, provide a free hug and just say hello. It isn't so easy to take Mike and Jim from their situation as we wish it were.
