The Least of These
Matthew 25:34-36,40 – “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Thurman Sykes – “I pray that God continues to bless me, so that I can continue to help the homeless, that could be any one of us. We are truly blessed.” So often the homeless are overlooked, forgotten and misunderstood. Jesus said when we do it to the least of these, you have done it unto Him. Daybreak Christian Assembly has partnered with Strong Towers Ministries in an endeavor to reach out to homeless individuals in Baltimore City to not only feed and clothe them, but also to point them to Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. What we have discovered on the streets are people just like you and I who have hopes and dreams. It can happen to any of us. In fact, because of the economy, many families and individuals are only a paycheck or two away from being homeless themselves.
During this Thanksgiving holiday, let’s not forget those in our city that are less fortunate than us who need our love and care. Many of the individuals we met on the streets of Baltimore and under the overpass of I-83 do work jobs, but are unable to afford suitable housing at this time.
