The July 25, 2009 homeless drive with Strong Towers and Where Eagles Soar Ministries was a huge success. A total of 5 volunteers touched the lives of over 250 people in Baltimore City. The poor, crushed, lost and forsaken were so eager for the Word of God, Gospel Tracks and Psalms. Food was distributed to well over 200 people. Prayer was utilized to break down barriers. The power of Jesus was seen, felt and left on July 25, 2009.
Volunteer’s car pooled from Annapolis and met Where Eagles Soar Ministries at Camden Yards. The drive started in Dundalk when a small team visited Jim on Wise Avenue. When I first met him, I thought he was dead. His body was pale, dehydrated and had almost no body fat left on him. Jim lives in a fly infested dirt hole adjacent to two trash dumpsters. The smell was out of control. He refused all food and water. He did accept prayer. Prayer was provided then we met up with the Douglas Family after administering to a few people in Dundalk. During our drive to city, we met up with this couple:
Continuing into Harbor Center and the surrounding areas provided our team with a ripe harvest. The needs are so great. The homeless were lined up in their personal community. Their clothes were hanging from the Baltimore Architecture. Everyone split up and tackled hard to reach areas. Our team prayed, spoke and fed 50+ people in this one area. We didn't even scratch the surface. We then drove to Tent City where another 50 people were administered to. Hugs were offered. Love was provided and the Power of Christ was given when the Spirit demanded it. Still to this point in the drive, other than the team of 5, not 1 volunteer was seen on the streets. We then drove across from Our Daily Bread and saw over 200 people standing in line. We pulled up, saw the harvest and dug deeper for the Spirit to fill us to perform God's work. People were all accepting the Word of God (Gospel Tracks). One gentleman cried that his bible was stolen. I gave him The Gospel of John that I had in the car. Rev. Douglas supplied tons of Gospel Tracks for Adults, Children and Latinos. We were slammed and the remaining goods from our cars were emptied. Once again, supplies were out but our Love was never ending. Acts 13:52 "And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit." We ended the day with a prayer circle - so much needed for the volunteers and homeless.
Later in the afternoon, after getting home, we were consumed with the emotional connection that was established with the homeless. It has practically consumed me the entire day. I had enough energy to call the Dundalk Fire Department to attempt a rescue for Jim before he passes or moves to another location. It is amazing that the harvest was so ripe and the laborers are so few. We were blessed to have some pictures of the afternoon. I leave this message with James 3:18: "Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.". I would like to thank the entire team for helping in every possible way.
